Now accepting phone calls, visits, etc

Hi,

My name is Mom and I am happily accepting phone calls, visits, cards, any form of communication these days!

My 36+ staples come out tomorrow and I only have 4 1/2 weeks left of the IV line. Don't visit if you are drooling, drizzling or oozing sick, but otherwise- I'm here and available to visit.

Even phone calls are nice!! Can anyone tell I'm getting a little bored/cabin feverish???

Mission Update...

Merry Christmas, all. I just got finished with my mission papers.

I just need to find out who the executive secretary in my ward is now and set up an interview with the bishop. Just thought I'd share that little update. So, happy holidays.

Thanks, all you elves!!!

Some "elves" came yesterday and set up the Christmas tree here - Thank you soooo much - that was so thoughtful. We probably wouldn't have done any Christmas decorations this year without all your kind assistance. Just keeping up with work, dishes, laundry, and Mom's needs is consuming all Jared's & my energy.

We set up the tree on the center landing so Mom would see it more often. BTW, she made it downstairs today for the first time since she came home, so she's a bit worn out this evening, but very happy to have made that progress.

Any update on Brandon & Rhonda?

I seem to recall that Rhonda's due around the end of this month. Any news?

Update on Mom - Friday 2m

Looks like it will be Saturday when Mom goes home, so if anyone wants to stop by to visit her Friday evening or Saturday morning, she'd love to see you. Prelim results are saying the infection is staph plus a virus, so they're putting in a 'pick' line so she can get the antibiotics intravenously at home (like giving a shot into an IV 'stub'.) - Jon and Brandon, don't make fun, just trying to explain it in layman's terms :-)

Or if you need to stay away from staph, call her and say hi - 775-6214.

Sorry some of you didn't hear from Mom or I before today's surgery. Her knee was getting infected a bit so the surgeon went back in and cleaned it out. She's in room 214 here at New Albany Surgical Hospital. Room phone is 775-6214. The cleanout went well and they sent some samples out for culture to see what it is exactly, so she'll probably have some antibiotics this time. The earliest she will go home is Friday afternoon, but it could be into Saturday, so we'll just see how it goes.

Surprise Christmas pictures of the kids

This was a complete shock to me this morning, as I was dragged out of RS into the YW's room. A good friend in the ward(who happens to sit w/us in Sacrament meetings, is one of the Stake RS Counselors, and a YW teacher in our ward), and the young women "kidnapped" (ie. babysat not at our house) the kids for a couple hours at dinner on Wednesday night. I thought they were just being taken to a Wendy's drive-thru and then someone's house to eat. Nope.

Ivy almost spilled the beans last night at the ward Christmas party. I had gone out for an hour that morning to do errands. As I got back, Ivy asked me where her dress was. I had gone to Target for new Christmas lights. Today before Church she tells me my friend had gotten her a dress, and that we should call her(ie. she wanted to wear it to church today). Didn't call, figuring if there really was a dress, it was probably a Christmas present.

Anyway, I got these photos(framed copies for me, and copies to send to Tom) and the outfits they are all wearing in the pictures. I found out today, they had done the pictures that night by a photographer in the ward.

Captin Awesome and his awesome experience

So, for those of you that had not heard, Jon had a great opportunity to meet with Glenn Beck during a VIP meet and great on Saturday night and present him with a flag that was flown over his base in Kuwait. Glenn was misty eyed from the moment he saw Jon in his uniform, but began to cry when he was presented the flag. It was an incredible experience....oh, and I got a big bear hug from him. Too cool. The show was great, not a typical Glenn show, but the message was clear and spiritual.

Kids Christmas Exchange

Sorry I'm late getting this posted, I need to get a poll of who is in favor of doing a gift exchange for the kids. And if yes, what do you think the max should be $10?

Update...ok, so Erica called me not long after I posted and said she'll draw names and send out an email.

Thanks Erica!

I'm home- now for MY side of the story!

Got home Sunday afternoon! Dad had taken my hospital bag of clothes home days before and so I got to wear hospital "shorts" and hospital socks (no shoes!) home. Jared met me at my car door with slip on shoes that almost did and he and Dad kind of pulled me out of the car and up the steps to the house. I had my leg immobilizer on at the time, too.

Any neighbors watching would have had an entertaining view!! I also may have been a little loopy! Apparently, from the comments I'm reading on here, some of you (my family) prefer to see me in that "druggy" state!!!

I'm home- you can call, visit, send magnificent presents, etc. and I may or may not remember them in a day or so, but I will appreciate the thoughts!

Don't remember Dad or Brandon giving me a blessing at the hospital but I hope I thanked you!

Well, I'm getting a little loopy sitting here by the computer so I think I'll skip up to bed!

Update on Mom - Sunday night

She's home as of Sunday afternoon and doing well. They discovered (gasp - rolleyes) that Mom has sleep apnea so they sent her home with oxygen for nights until she gets a sleep study done, so if you see an oxygen tank sitting around the house don't freak out. She's got an oxygen concentrator for normal nighttime use (like Uncle Bill) and the tanks are there if we lose power at night.
---------
Mom took a fall at the hospital Saturday evening - they're keeping her in bed the rest of the night and they'll take some xrays in the morning to see if there are any breaks. Brandon and I gave her a blessing and she seems to be doing okay at this point. I'll post more when I know more.

For those interested...

Mom's surgery went well. She is in room 202; The phone number to her room is (614)-775-6202

Dad suggested I post this. (In other good news, my right jaw no longer hurts. I can't tell, but I assume it's deflated from chipmunk-mode too. :p )

Fun things that Chris does for work- Check this out!

http://www.exyzt.net/tiki-index.php?page=BoomBox
This is one of Christopher's clients that he helps. If you notice on the bottom on the page, you'll see a special acknowledgement to Chris. I am so happy for all the hard work he does and to be able to show some of you in the family what he does instead of just describing it to you. So check it out and have fun looking!

I'm Having Surgery- Surprise!!!

As all of you now know, I go in tomorrow for my 2nd Annual Christmas Knee Replacement. The hospital (New Albany Surgery Center) will call today with the exact time. I'll be in the hospital until Sat/maybe Sunday. (But I'm planning for Sat. release!)

It's no big deal. Same as last year- just the other knee! Not sure what I'll ask for next year for Christmas- I'll be out of knees to replace!! LOL!!

You want to come visit me in the hospital- fine, if not, fine. (although I enjoy visitors).

I just didn't want Jenn and Jon to know ahead and worry about changing their plans- there's really no reason to! We are looking forward to Jenn's arrival tomorrow night and Jon shortly after! Guest room is ready, food's in the freezer, fridge and pantry and many Christmas gifts are already taken care of.

That being said- please e-mail me Christmas lists, especially for GKs (some of you have already- thanks!) E-mail will guarantee that I actually see it and don't forget it in a medicated blur! LOL!!

Love you all (in case you hadn't figured that out already!) Be good to each other.
